My car has a new MOT!!
This thread is for members to post up a picture of their celebratory drive having passed an MOT. The only requirement is that the picture shall include the car concerned and be taken on the day of the successful test!! Let's see them in all their glory!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
My old 1999 Pug 806 hdi passed it's French Control Technique end of last year with a few little advisories but nothing serious or worth doing.
The old gal's in semi retirement these days but don't half come in handy for trips to tip with seats out or ferrying visitors around when 7 seats are needed.
I've owned her since she was 2 yo & normal sevicing apart she's had a dash LED displays rebuild, one clutch , 2 cambelt changes & a few ball joints in approx. 280,000Km.
Still going strong & starts 'on the button' every time she's needed.
Doesn't cost much to keep as no road tax (or whatever it's now called in the UK) & 3rd party insurance for limited annual Kms very cheap.
Next 2 yearly CT due end of 2025.

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
Took my Z1000 for it's very first ever MOT last week (Controle Technique here) they've just come in for bikes. What a crock of sh1te the test is. Must be just appeasing Brussels.
Frame number
Condition of tyres
Looked for obvious leaks, be it fuel of oil
Checked the lights
Looked at the brake flexies, calipers and pads
All good mate, your rear tyre is showing signs of age and you have a leak from the rocker cover gasket.
Yep, I know, winter job when I check the valve clearances.
What he didn't check
Horn (maybe he forgot)
Steering play
Swing arm play
Whether the front and rear suspension actually moved!
Whether the brakes actually worked!!
He was pulling the clutch lever when looking at the front brake, then said fine. (Front brakes on pushbikes over here are on the left)
What he never picked up on
One of the brake light filaments is knackered, only lights one bulb
The indicators start at the normal flash rate then every now and again start going like the clappers(even with engine off) for no reason at all
50€ for 5 mins and he never checked the potentially dangerous bits, which are fine because it's my life and more importantly my daughters in 2 weeks.
It is no way a roadworthyness check. Having now seen what it involves I could set a bike up in a way to make it a death trap....but it would pass!
What a farce
It's a visual control. I rode it in. He got out a torch and checked (visually):Frame number

Gosh Pete, that's shocking... Our motorbike MoT here, as you'll know well, has always been strict... Certainly for the last 40 years to my certain knowledge...

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
My car does indeed have a new MOT, it will hopefully get a "trip" out later in the week
In the meantime, no prizes for my original photo taken on "MOT passing day" for the thread...

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
The MX3 passed today with no advisories, just a verbal mention that the rear brakes are a bit down on efficiency, probably due to lack of use!! I'll give them a service, as in caliper pin grease, clean shoe springs etc. and disk off reface to remove surface rust. A job to keep me busy if we get another sunny day!!
I haven't been for a celebratory cruise so the only pics I can offer are those at the test!!

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
Forgot about this thread and not strictly in keeping with the requirements but my MoT place has a flexible system for slots … I drop it off before 9.00 AM and then spend the day refreshing my laptop to see it’s online MoT status . It’s great fun ….
Anyway this is the day after on the edge of Derwentwater (just North of the famous Ashness Bridge) on a day hiking the Wainwrights 30 AUG 24 taking advantage of it’s size to park where no other car can go

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
Congrats on sAXo gaining a pass Skull Love that car
Early today, the new owners of Pix, my (Sian's really) erstwhile Nissan Pixo, informed me she flew through her MoT yesterday. I was pleased to hear that as Pix's new owners are my next-door neighbours
Like mine... I drop off a 9'ish and wait for the 'phone call to say it's done - or otherwise... Usually around teatime...

Re: My car has a new MOT!!
They just phoned to say that mine has too. Sooner than expected. Took it for a service, brakes to be checked as there is a slight judder, noticed on the Alnwick trip.
Also a headlight out and the lambda sensor was incorrect and the EML lit all the time.
It passed anyway. The sensor was over £600 from the dealer and not immediately available.
Had a new spare tyre fitted last Friday as the existing one had only a ghost of tread left on it.
Found that I didn't need that either. Still needed doing of course in case it is ever needed, which it won't be now.
Phone call came a few minutes too late, the bus had just passed the street end and there isn't another for an hour.
I was going to take the bus back yesterday as I had to go to the doctors too. It pulled out of the stop when I was fifty yards away
Took be an hour and a half to walk back so would have no chance of collecting it today. Hadn't expected it until tomorrow in any case.
