Citroen 1.2 Puretech Warranty extension anomaly
My daughters 2016 C4 Cactus 1.2 Puretech is using excessive oil. At the last check 1.5 litre in just over 1,000 miles. Searching on line I came across an extended warranty bulletin from Stallantis to all the dealerships of Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall who use this engine. Briefly they now say that they will extend the warranty on these engines for specific issues including excessive oil consumption up to 10 years and 150km, but are restricting cover to the Turbo engine. My daughters is the normally aspirated (N/A) version and I wonder if anyone knows if there is any difference between the internal mechanical components to justify this discrimination. I've asked Citroen the question without receiving a reply. I would have thought that the problem of oil control rings gumming up would have been a common problem to both types of engine and cannot understand their logic. Please can someone help. Thank you.

I suppose it all depends where the oil loss is coming from and what the cause is - turbochargers lose engine oil via the intake or exhaust gas port, so you may have a separate issue that they are not covering. It's well known that these engines do seem to consume a lot of oil.
