I have a Citroen C5 X7 Dynamique Tourer 2012, engine DW10BTED4 RHF. It has 280 000 km on the clock. It has recently started to generate frequent P1490 error codes. I have tried to follow the instructions provided for activating FAP regeneration whilst driving but seems it fails. I guess the filter is blocked but I have not been able to verify it with Lexia or Diagbox since I don't have them. I'd have considered to remove the FAP for washing it but in my car FAP & CAT is one piece, even with the rest of the exhaust line: they are welded together. And it seems horribly difficult to gain access to the front of the FAT & CAT component to loosen the fixing clamp from the precatalyser piping since there is a large steel plate on the bottom, tightly integrated with and bolted to the subframe, and blocking the access to the clamp completely. I have not been able to figure out if there is another way to gain access to the fixing clamp that wouldn't require the removal of the steel plate. And that job seems really a nightmare.
So could somebody please advise me on how to solve this problem? This is how my exhaust line looks like:

Re: Instructions for removing / changing FAP & CAT
I've been trying to look for definitive solution to this matter but without luck until now. Basically, in this particular car of mine, the access to the fixing clamp is blocked by the steel plate that is integrated with the subframe (or perhaps part of the subframe). Seems impossible to get to the clamp from below. I also took off the plastic bottom engine (sound) cover but the things didn't look more positive from that angle as well: I perhaps can reach the nut of fixing clamp but there is no room for my hand to maneuver in the space between the edge of the steel plate and the engine. And actually the instructions provided in Citroen's Service Box are for Euro 4 emission / exhaust parts only where the FAP and CAT are separate parts. And the bottom plate / subframe appears to be completely different from that in my car.
So my question is if it is possible in my case to gain somehow access to the fixing clamp of the exhaust piping to disconnect it from the precatalyser piping without unassembling the subframe? Anyone with experience / knowledge on this matter, please, give a shout.

Re: Instructions for removing / changing FAP & CAT
Official Instructions require it to be on a hoist to get proper access, but the C5 X7 DW10BTED4 engines from 5th July 2010 could have either a steel subframe or an Aluminium subframe.
For those engines that had a steel subframe, the particle filter and cat are a complete unit, instead of being bolted together and separable on the Aluminium subframes of vehicles built up to the 4th July 2010.
However, I can tell you that there is only one removal document for the DPF removal on this engine regardless of type and build date and that is the same as you have on your offline version of SB.
So you may have to look into the subframe area and see if that helps, but there is nothing later officially.

Re: Instructions for removing / changing FAP & CAT
Hi Marc, many thanks for the info. What you state is in line with my own understanding as well. However, I came across to Darbuck's post on turbo removal / change job in this forum (viewtopic.php?t=82788).
I have been consulting him in order to figure out if he was able to get access to this fixing clamp from above the engine. He had been able to get off the pre-catalyser and turbo in one unit. We've been exchanging messages but I'm not yet sure from which angle / direction he eventually gained access to it. His C5 X7 is 2008 make, has aluminum subframe and separate Euro 4 CAT & FAP parts, whereas mine is 2012 which has Euro 5 CAT & FAP as a complete unit and steel subframe.

Re: Instructions for removing / changing FAP & CAT
Unfortunately that didn't help: Darbuck was able to access the clamp from below, and stated it is impossible to access it from above.
