Peugeot 306 2.0 GTI engine problem

Unread post by Gabee »

Hello!
I would like to ask you for help and advice.
I have a 306 with a 2.0 petrol GTI (XU10J4RS) engine.
Unfortunately, we used it quite a while ago, but it worked well without any errors.
For years it just rested in the garage, now we wanted to bring it out again and revive it.
Of course it didn't start, the fuel pump was in a broken state because it didn't work.
We bought a new fuel pump, dismantled the fuel tank, washed it, dried it and filled it with 100 petrol.
We also cleaned the fuel pipes from the tank to the engine and installed a new fuel filter.
With the new fuel pump, it was a bit difficult, but the engine started.
It idles relatively well, but chokes on acceleration.
Unfortunately, I can't even leave the garage this way, because as soon as I give it a little gas, it immediately chokes.
By pumping the gas pedal, you can sometimes increase the revs, but this is only possible for a short time, and you can't start with it because of the choking.
After many attempts, it chokes so much that the engine stops several times and sometimes it is difficult to start it again.
When the engine is running, all 4 cylinders are always working, so I would rule out the ignition problem.
The air filter is also new, the throttle valve is also clean.
Well, I would like to ask for ideas and advice on where to start in the search for the error.
Unfortunately, diagnostics is not possible, so I would have to find the fault without it.
Of course, I know that without diagnostics, troubleshooting will be much longer and more expensive, but unfortunately I have to solve it this way.
So, I welcome advice and ideas on what to try, in case anyone has had this or a similar problem and found a solution.
Thanks!
