Hi
I have a 17 plate Berlingo, it seems to have 2 issues with the head unit.
1 the DAB signal is poor, in my home town DAB radio works no problem, but if I drive 7 miles north or 7 miles south the DAB radio has issues and the sound comes and goes sometimes it could be silent for a couple of minutes.
2 when I have my iphone connected by USB and playing music, the music blips every 30 seconds to a minute.
I am guessing these are 2 separate problems, but it could just be the head unit is faulty. I was looking to see if it needs an update but GiveMeABreak has told me I have a smeg unit and i gather it isn't as easy to update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

No, he just said that with a SMEG unit you don't use software for a NAC unit. In fact firmwares for the SMEG are reasonably easily available. If you give a long press on the tools icon (a cog) you'll be able to read off what firmware you already have. This will also tell us whether you have a SMEG or a SMRG+ system.

Right, that's actually SMEG+ IV2, a slightly improved version of SMEG+. I've looked and there's a later version, 6.4.10, out although I haven't yet located a source.
You need to think about updating though. There's a warning:

but a later post makes a more nuanced point....I went from 6.1.20 straight to 6.4.10 and it worked fine.
You'll probably need calibration at the dealer. If not for the microphone / echo problems, then for removing virtual camera recording buttons in Drive/Settings menu (if you don't have fromt camera for lane departure warning system - LDWS), or for enabling Apple CarPlay via official diagnostic tool (if you use iPhones).
From what I've read, as your current firmware is greater that 6.2 you may not actually get a problem. You don't need buying any additional hardware. It's only about telecoding and if your dealer can't do it, try another one!
My dealer took 2 hours to do it first time - to no avail. Second time the same guy tried and job was done in under 20 minutes!
PS: other than that confusing camera buttons, your head uniti (SMEG+IV2) is working fine on 6.4.10 fw
