Hiya,
When my phone disconnects (eg I turn off bluetooth) from my Berlingo's wave 3 multimedia screen; it automatically switches on the radio at whatever volume I have it on. This happens a few times a day and drives me crazy. I never listen to the radio. Anyone know of how to prevent this or how to silence/disable just the radio?

No. It will switch to the default source which is the radio. If it's annoying you turn it off by pushing the volume button, problem solved!

This is while I'm working and I have 20 to 30 stops a day Which means pressing the power button around at oeast 40 times a day, every day. Might seem trivial to you but it takes a little bit of my attention/focus to do this which is a distraction (and a small extra task I do not want to have on top of all my existing work tasks).GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 08:41 No. It will switch to the default source which is the radio. Your version of 'problem solved' is exactly the problem I described. While the input is appreciated, it doesn't help me with a solution or a workaround.
Would appreciate any productive feedback to the problem .

Re: Radio Turns on When Phone disconnects - Berlingo 2020 (Wave3)
So maybe describe the issue in a bit more detail as this is the first time ever I have heard anyone complain about this. It is normal behaviour.
Why are you disconnecting it or why is your phone disconnected from Bluetooth (excepting that this is obvious if you constantly take the phone in and out of the car)?
If you are removing the phone constantly form the vehicle what do you expect to happen? Having said that, your phone should automatically reconnect every time you get back in the vehicle and start it (after a few seconds). This is how active phone calls are transferred from the mobile to the car's bluetooth connection automatically when on a call and the vehicle is started.
I'm not sure what else we can do without knowing further details or specifics of the issue.

My bad, I could have phrased my question better and emphasised that the phone disconnections are on purpose and my question is about changing the radio behaviour. I understand this is expected behaviour, but want to know how to change or get around it. I have dogs in the car and walk away many times a day just far enough for the phone to disconnect and the radio pops on and immediately screams some commercials at my dogs (car locked/secured with AC running).GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 17:41 So maybe describe the issue in a bit more detail as this is the first time ever I have heard anyone complain about this. I am asking how I can get around this so when the phone disconnecs, the radio doesn't come on? Is there a way to change the default? Is there a way to disable the radio alltogether? Any other ideas? I understand I can hit the power button 40 times a day, but I much prefer to find a setting/solution which is more practical for my situation.

Ok, I think I'm getting the picture and am assuming you still have the vehicle running for the A/C to be on. There's nothing you can do about it in this scenario, because if the vehicle is running and the connection is lost, the system defaults back to the radio. Of course this wouldn't happen if the engine was switched off as the connection would be terminated and reinstated once you were back in the vehicle.
Having said that, many later systems allow for the audio settings to be retained separately for each audio source. By this I mean that you could set the ambience / treble / bass / loudness and of course volume for each audio source. So you could change to the radio and turn the volume right down.
This depends on the Head Unit you have though, but if you don't have this capability on your system, I suggest you try setting the radio to a blank radio frequency as long as there's not too much hiss, or try setting to another band. Failing all this, the only other thing I can suggest is buying one of those cheap FM transmitters that people without Bluetooth streaming use to transmit their MP3 or phone calls to the vehicle using an FM band.
They're not expensive and you could set the radio to the recommended FM frequency for the transmitter, but don't actually transmit anything - so when your vehicle loses your bluetooth connection and reverts back to the radio, it should be to the last FM preset selected (the FM transmitter) and you shouldn't here anything.

Thank you very much for taking the time to elaborate so much. Those are great ideas. I'll check the settings tomorrow and see if there are sepparate settings for different sources. I see in my app that I have an update available for the system, but I'm guessing that's mostly new phone compatibility so not taking the risk to update. The FM transmitter is definitely a great failsafe idea that would work.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 23:38 Ok, I think I'm getting the picture and am assuming you still have the vehicle running for the A/C to be on.
