Hey all, just got my new 408 GT and so far loving it, really nice interior and super smooth to drive, but I have noticed a few issues/have questions:
1. The navigation maps think I am like 20 miles in another location, so when driving, it is just driving through roads and open areas, any ideas on how to solve this? If I go to the maps and then press the 3 bars at the bottom right, at the top right it says "no connection"?
2. The Peugeot app doesn't really do anything? I thought I'd be able to turn on the car/unlock/lock similar to my old Ford, but honestly, I get nothing and the app doesn't offer a way to update/re-install updates.
3. I thought the GT edition had the claw effect indicator lights, but that doesn't seem to happen?
4. The right side up/down style button on the steering wheel when pressed says something like "no playlist selected", what the heck does that mean? anyway to make it useful?
5. The traffic sign recognition is pretty awful? Feels like most of the time it's wrong or just shows "--"?
6. Do all GT cars have the matrix lights? and can I confirm these are the lights that have the sort of vertical beams that get turned on/off as oncoming traffic passes by? And if anyone has tried these, what are they like? are they reactive enough? My old ford had a similar feature, but was mechanical instead and was very slow.

To answer some of these I’ll need your VIN. Please post it here without spaces, and it will auto mask when submitted, and will only be visible to staff.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: 408 GT Problems
What I'm going to report here might surprise some. I've been driving the 408 1.2 puretech GT EAT8 for 8 months now and this has to be the most dangerous and unsafe car I've come across in 30 years of driving many different cars. This is my experience with this car:
1) the infotainment system or digital dashboard display completely failed on 2 occassions! The system didn't start up, the display was just black/blank so I had no speedometer, no fuel gauage, no driving controls, no control of any functions as everything is operated from the infotainment system. The engine and gearbox was working so I could drive the car, but no other functions as the whole dash was black!! The car was back to normal the next day, the system started up and infotainment displaying as usual. Absolute madness!!
2) second major issue was the gearbox completely failed so I couldn't drive the car! Tried to restart it several times hoping it might correct itself but nothing. The engine came on but couldn't put into Drive or Reverse, gearbox was totally down, it just changed into parked mode and handbrake on. I'm not sure if it was luck, but I had just stopped outside some shops and trying to park the car when the gearbox malfunctioned. Was thinking what if this happened in the middle of a busy road?? It was in park mode so I couldn't push the car to the side of the road if I needed to. I was also a long way from home and had to leave the car where it was parked, on double yellow lines. The system malfunction also affected the central locking so it couldn't lock either. What a nightmare!! No option accept to leave the car as it was unlocked!! It was getting late and had to make my way home still. I had the most stressful sleepless night, it was a really scary experience. I went back to the car early in the morning, thinking of what happened with the infotainment system issue, it might reset itself next day as it did before and that's exactly what happened. The car started up fine and gearbox was working as normal, central locking worked again!!
This is the most unsafe and unreliable car I have come across. If this occurred a long way from home or on the motorway or driving abroad, going over the different scenarios, you would have an absolute nightmare wouldn't you. I will explain this to Peugeot when it goes for service, but I have a feeling they will play dumb about it because they won't admit the car has major faults to keep their reputation. The car is leased but I wouldn't extend it even if they gave it to me for free!!
