Hi there,
I was hoping for some advice if anyone can help me out there. I'm in the market for a Saxo VTR, is there anything I should be looking out for that's common faults or anything in general. I have read about the boot floor and rear but wasn't sure if there's anything else, as I'm not very mechanically minded.
Thanks,
Jamie

Re: Saxo VTR advice
Rear axles are pretty common failures, look for excessive camber on the rear or signs of rubbing on the inner arches.
Also check for dampness in the NSF footwell, they are common for water leaking in through the air intake for the heater.
Also leaky sunroofs.

RUST, rust and then look for RUST.
In the inner arches, look via the engine bay. Whilst in there check under the battery and behind the engine/fire-wall corners.
Under the car, check under the front wing area, check the strengthening outriggers "inside" from the inner wings and those under the front seats. Check the front chassis leg bottoms and the anti-roll bar area.
Check all along the bottom of the sills (tap along with a small hammer or such like as rust loves to hidden under the thick stone chip coating)
At the rear, open the boot and check the boot floor/inner wing joints and along the seam at the rear.
Then check for RUST.
Anything mechanical is a cheep and easy fix compared to RUST in a SAXO
