Turbocharger fault codes - C4 Picasso (B78)

Unread post by danlat1415 »

My friend had his C4 Picasso and we suspected that it may be a faulty sensor.

The faults were cleared, but the same faults are now still there when I've scanned the car for him because he doesn't feel the pulling power he is expecting when setting off.

The fault codes are;
P2562 - position incorrect relative to requirement
P1497 - position incorrect relative to requirement (after sales)

Can you give anymore details about the fault codes?
We're looking at swapping out the turbo pressure sensor on both of our cars (same sensor) to see if it resolved, as my car doesn't have the issue, but mine is a newer model - so not sure if it's the same part number.

What is the part number for the Turbo Pressure Solenoid?

Fault Code: P2562
Description of Fault: Turbocharger: Position incorrect relative to requirement, not enough turbo.
The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 30 % for 5 seconds.

Conditions of activation of the diagnostics:
Engine running for more than 30 seconds and engine speed higher than 1500 rpm
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Closing of the EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve
  • Switching of the turbocharging pressure regulation to controlled mode
  • Sending of the information "torque uncertain" on the CAN network
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms:
  • Noise
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Lack of power
  • Loss of braking
Suspect Areas:
  • Turbocharger
  • Turbocharger variable geometry control solenoid valve
  • Turbocharger variable geometry position repeat sensor
  • Exchanger of the exhaust gas recycling valve with bypass
  • EGR exchanger bypass control solenoid valve
  • Vacuum pump
  • Electrical harnesses
  • Connectors
  • Air leak on vacuum circuit

Fault Code: P1497

I'm listing both valves for reference.

(1) Turbo Solenoid Valve, part: 1618PE, £83.96
(2) EGR Solenoid Valve, part: 1618KG, £37.58
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Is anyone able to help clearing the faults on Diagbox?

I'm trying to clear these faults - but it's saying;
"Before erasing faults, an after-sales zone must be completed.
It then takes to to another screen to input the current mileage, but then it says fault erasing failed.

I'm running Diagbox 9.180
I don't have issue clearing any other faults.
Would an earlier Diagbox version be better? (7.57 or 7.83 etc.)
**EDIT - I've now tried Diagbox 7.57 and it's still giving the fault clearing failed.**

Thanks

Didn't see any replies but just found out that if you erase faults from the REPAIR menu then it asks you to record the repair in one of 50 available 'slots' by recording the mileage. You should be able to delete the fault from the main diagnostic screen instead which doesn't record the fact that the fault was cleared.
