I cannot find the water temp sensor that
(per haynes manual) says because - it is petrol with air con - it should be on the side of the radiator ( LHS )
The thermostat housing has no wires anywhere near it - so that rules that possibity out !
It still has the original radiator with 29 07 1999 manufacturing date stamp still on it !
A new sensor is easy to buy
- but i cant find any diagrams showing where the sensor actually is
Has anone any ideas ???
Thanks

For a Xantia with aircon, the temperature sensors are always mounted on the engine near the thermostat. There were normally 3, but on late cars with some ECU variants, the engine ECU controlled the cooling fans, eliminating one of the sensors. On the XU10J2 engine, the sensors should be by the thermostat at the gearbox end of the engine as shown (click the image to enlarge):
1220 is the engine ECU sensor, the diagram indicates that the fan (Bitron) sensor and gauge sensor may also be present.
