Hi
Can anyone help me? I was driving my 1995 1.9TD xantia hatch the other day and the rev counter start going up to where it should be then going back down to zero but the car was still running fine - does any one no what the problem is.
Thanks
Carl

Could be dodgy wiring conector near fuel filter, brown plug, or could be sensor or clock going daft, or sensor simply not close enough to flywheel to generate a stable signal.
If the engine has starship mileage on it there could be some crankshaft end float causing an intermitant signal, park across a slight slope with the drivers side on the low side and press the clutch pedal, if this induces the fault its end float, if so see if the sensor can be got any closer to the flywheel, its at the back of the engine and is best got at from underneath so make sure its safe (remember this is not ordinary suspension) if you are going under.
