Owner of a C4GP, 2.0 HDI RHH which we are loathe to replace...with the exception of the air suspension!
Well aware this topic has been covered many times, and I thought I'd give it a shot at fixing it rather than converting to springs.|
Alas, a few times the rear suspension had went down overnight or within a few hours, but not consistently, certainly not every night.
So I bought replacement bags and went about swapping them over.
- Jacked the car up and onto axle stands.
Removed both wheels.
Disconnected the battery.
Disconnected the air hose from both bags and removed the bags.
Put the new bags in place, connected the air hose.
Slowly lowered the suspension back down, ensuring the bags were sitting in the correct place top and bottom.
Reconnected the battery.
Now I expected to open the drivers door and the compressor to kick in, but it did not. Started the car and got the "5mph" warning message.
Plugged in Diagbox, and found the following errors:
U2003 Remote Controlled Wake-up (RCD) Inconsistency between main wake-up signal and electrical signal
C118E Programming of the heights not carried out
So I proceeded to carry out the programming of the heights, entered values after measuring the height values at 110mm.
Drove the car, all was fine.
Next day, completely deflated. Used the boot buttons to pump it back up. About 6 hours later, same again, so pumped back up.
Next day, again, completely deflated.
Now it seems that the car just completely deflates all the time, but at least the compressor is kicking in and pumping it up as soon as the drivers door is opened. Concerned that it is doing this from totally deflated to full, as it'll eventually burn out the compressor.
I can't find any leaks in the new bags, the compressor runs when expected and doesn't run while driving or sitting idle after its pumped the bags up on first entry.
So what should I be looking at next? Any ideas? Other than converting to springs...which may have to be on the cards after all.
Thanks!
