Confirmation of Peugeot 508 Unit

Unread post by Blayney »

Hello all,

I wonder if you could assist me. I have a Peugeot 508 that I am having issues with the infotainment unit. On warm days it does not turn on when you start the car. I'd like to confirm the model of the head unit. I suspect, from reading other topics here, that it could be an SD card issue - but I'd like to confirm the unit before taking anything apart/ordering firmware CDs etc.

My VIN is

Thanks in advance for any support you can give.

Your VIN is incorrect, one short and you did have a full stop in there instead of a number or character. Please check again.

Without the stop. Hopefully correct - it's 17 characters. There is an I which could be a 1?

No, you've got something else wrong, I should be a 1, but even with that it's not returning anything, sorry. Double check the last 8 and either look on the V5 or on the lower windscreen.

That's better, now to remember what the question was.. :-D

Ok, so you have the RT6 Head Unit in your vehicle.

It may also be something else internal to the unit - hard to tell from those symptoms alone.

Wahey, I got there eventually!

Thanks for the confirmation.

Yes it's a very strange issue. Basically, first thing in the morning when driving to work there will be no problem - the unit turns on and I have everything working.

If I then come to stop and turn the car off for a short amount of time (for example, at a petrol station), the unit then won't come back on when I start the car.

If the car is then left for a long time (for example, whilst I work) but it is a hot day, the unit will not turn on when I start the car.

After some time of driving in silence the unit will sometime come on randomly (it could be after 15 minute of driving or an hour etc.).

First I've heard of this issue, apart from over-heating, but that would first reduce the volume of the audio to reduce heat from the internal amp. The actual restarting or not switching on may be operating system based (SD card or internal hardware.

One thing I suggest you do immediately is to get a backup of your user data files in case the SD card is going toes up.

Refer to 'Part A' of the Mirascripts section in the Micro SD replacement guide: (viewtopic.php?p=610017#p610017) on how to do this and keep the files safe in case you do need to replace the card, so you can restore your configuration if necessary afterwards.

The advise what the current firmware on the system s.

I will take a look and get that done as soon as possible. Thanks again.
