Sorry if this has been covered before, but not finding anything on search.
Peugeot 208 2012 1.4 petrol manual 5 speed box.
Busy changing the top mounts and of course I managed to let the drive shaft slip out of the box. Result unknown quantity of gear oil on the driveway!!
Can't see anything obvious on the box, so how do I refill?
How do I know when there's enough in the box?
Is it better to drain off the remaining and fill with a known quantity?
Thanks in advance

Re: Peugeot 208 manual gearbox
In this case you must drain and refill the gearbox as you don't know how much has come out.
I'll need the VIN to determine exact gearbox and oil quantity. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Re: Peugeot 208 manual gearbox
Thanks Marc
The vin is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Since posting I had gone ahead and drained it, figured it was probably 12 years old so should be replaced!
Couple of further questions
What spec should the new oil be? and synthetic or mineral?
Whilst the drain plug was obvious, any idea where to refill?
PS Eventually had had enough with the regen issues on the boxer so got rid!!

Re: Peugeot 208 manual gearbox
Gearbox empty: 2,1 litres.
After draining: 2 litres.
So 2 litres after draining to be replaced. 75W80
