Replacing the engine bay fusebox on a C3 1.4 2009

Unread post by mrdobing »

Hi all,

I've found the source of sudden (no abs/EPS/speedo) issues on my car is a completely corrded connection on the fuse box under the bonnet. The middle brown connector was blue and severeal pins snapped off... I believe this is the leaking washer jet issue..?

A second hand unit from ebay is about £35.

Is it a simple match the part no and swap?

Yes it is but how is your connector on the harness? Sometimes when they are like this the pins in the fusebox can break off & stay stuck inside the connector.
Does it smell like coolant? Its not uncommon on these for the coolant temp sensors to crack & coolant travels up the harness & into the fusebox or ECU.
Unplug the coolant temp sensor & check for signs of coolant in the connector.

Thanks wheeler. Yep, the plug was dirty too and one of the pins was stuck in so I'm trying to remove it before I get the new board.
Will check that when I locate it! Cheers

Might be worth asking the breaker for the connector too with as much wire as possible, the terminals can be stripped out of the plug.

All sorted, managed to get the rusty pin out of the connector, slapped the used fuse board in and everything is sorted thankfully! £32 well spent.

Just need to try and find the leak and waterproof it now.

Thanks

We had a 2003 C3 and I put sealant under the washer jets on the bonnet and there was also a joint in the washer jet piping under the bonnet which I moved to the side by adding a longer length of pipe. On our C3 it was 2 injectors that failed after a lot of rain. I vaguely remember reading water could go in the washer pump wiring back to the fuse box but I may be wrong. The coolant one mentioned by wheeler sounds like a good one to check.

My first time posting, I found this forum while looking for some info about an issue I’m having with my Citroen C3 2008 1.1. I have loads of warnings coming up (ABS, seatbelt/ airbag, brakes, lights etc).

I had a look last night and found a rather corroded connection on the engine bay fuse board so it looks to be a very similar problem as you were having mrdobing. Did you find what was causing the leak? I have read a couple of different options, apparently the washer pump can cause issues, as can the coolant sensors? I’m going to order a fuse board but I don’t want to replace it and then the problem happen all over again!
