Its been some time since I had something french, having owned a few Xantia's in the past, but I'm finally back, this time I'm back, with a 2020 Peugeot Partner 1.5 BlueHDi. This will be my new works van for mobile paint repairs, plans are to get this presentable, maybe a spot of lowering, and a Stage 1 map..

Don't want to put a downer on things, but be aware that there is a known issue with the camshaft chains on DV5 engines. Most vehicles before late 2023 manufacture have the 7mm camshaft chain that can snap. So make sure you use the correct oil which was changed in 2024 as a result to help protect the chain, mostly on starting in cold weather. Look out for noises coming from the timing side, as this will be an indication of imminent failure.

I'd be very wary regarding any remaps on this engine to be honest in case that puts extra strain on it. Repairs involve a significant replacement of all the exhaust valves, the cams, tensioners and multiple other parts as well as an upgrade to an 8mm cam chain.

Pop the VIN up if you want me to check if you have the 7mm chain.

Lastly, make absolutely sure you have it serviced within the annual mileage or annually and keep evidence of all the servicing and checks as Citroen can decline any future goodwill if this happens to you if the requisite checks and servicing evidence is not evidencable. I say this as someone with a DV5 engine facing this potential issue and consequently have mine dealer serviced annually so there's no cop-out later should it happen to me.

For some it has just gone at a roundabout and with others without warning also.
