Shifter knob replacement

Hi folks, I'm trying to remove a broken shifter knob from a Citroën c3 (2012). I've read online that you only have to pull it and it will come right off, but this one is really stuck. After twisting and tugging it has barely moved, and I'm afraid something might break if I pull any stronger. Does anyone have any tricks for taking the knob off? Or is there a mechanism or something to release the knob? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
