PSA Engine Advice

Unread post by MikeM123 »

Hi All,

New member but after some advice if possible...

I purchased a (cough) Vauxhall Vivaro Life a couple of years ago new. I know these things are mechanically identical to the Traveller/Spacetourer, so I've come to the experts as opposed to a Vauxhall forum 😄

The vehicle was sold as a 177bhp, with my V5C showing the max net power as 130kW. I checked out the sticker on the side of the engine and it had an engine code of "DW10FD".

Wiki is suggesting this is a 133-148bhp engine as opposed to the 177 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSA_EW/DW_engine#DW10).

Could someone with appropriate knowledge explain why this may be the case? Is it a DW10FD engine with an upgraded turbo or something?

The V5C engine number is "10DY3C4028872 O4H" and the side of the engine shows "10DY3C4028872 J", if that helps? It'll bring down the £520 road tax if nothing else!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

All the PSA vehicles with DW10FD are 150 versions (148 HP), with only the DW10FC being the 180 (178hp) engine, so either it's a differently tuned Vauxhall version or an error I can't say.

Thanks for the swift reply, Marc.

I suspect it's just the wrong engine... Vauxhall aren't competent enough to tune something that isn't theres 😔

I imagine with the recent (ish) take-over of Vauxhall, we'll be seeing much more integration of the same power units and platforms now they're all under Stellantis.

Just an update. Can't find a straight answer anywhere so I'm going to get it on a rolling road - the ultimate test 😄

I'll update accordingly

Yeah this vauxhall has lions and chevrons all over it... Won't be a bad thing for Opel/Vauxhall as Stellantis vehicles aren't too bad these days

Update!

Got the van on a dyno and it is indeed the 177ish bhp. It come back on the mechanic's system as being a 140bhp... Good news though - I know what I'm searching for in future now
