Megane 3 Cabrio 2011 GT- Roof and boot lock problems

Hello ,

The boot release on my 2011 Megane 3 Cabriolet GT is not functioning. I am unable to open the boot using the usual button. While the remote key button successfully locks and unlocks the rest of the car, the boot remains locked. Attempting to open the boot with the physical key by inserting it into the key lock above the number plate has been unsuccessful, despite trying WD40. One side of the boot does not close correctly and can be lifted with considerable effort. Additionally, the dashboard is displaying an error message to check the roof, but I need to open the boot first to address it.

Any assistance in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Just in the first minutes of this video you will see how to get the boot open from the inside, the rest is fixing the switch.

You boot switch on a Cabrio can be accessed by popping out one of the number plate lights you can then get your fingers in and manipulate it whilst on the outside using a thing small flat blade screwdriver to gently prise it out.
It will have moisture in it, mine did the same some times it opens other times not, they are apparently renowned for this as they are not sealed, number plate lamps also suffer rust on the pins.
You can pick up boot lid push buttons on eBay quite cheaply both the Cab and hatch are the same push button, my vehicle is a 2011 Megane 3, Cabrio GT line, boot lock push button 8200076256, cost me £11.50 on eBay, been working now 3 years no problem.
