Citroen DS5 What Sat Nav I'm using?

Unread post by deividano »

Hello,

Is there a way to check what Sat Nav hardware is on my car?

So it could help me find some potential problems with it, firmware updates or other useful information.

Problems I have:
1) Sat Nav keeps rebooting often.
2) Bluetooth connection is bad. Sound from phone keeps lagging or no sound at all.

My car is 2012 Citroen DS5 2.0 HDi.

Many Thanks

I've moved your post to the RT6 Forum as I suspect this is what you have, but I will need your VIN to determine the correct system. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

If this is the RT6 and you are getting reboots, DO NOT use the system for navigation or playing music if possible as if it is the MicroSD card that is failing this will make it worse. Once I know what you have I can advise further.

Ok, so you have the eMyWay or RT6 telematics unit.

These use Flash memory in the form of a MicroSD card inside the unit that is partitioned and stores all the vehicle data, maps, user files and operating system. Flash Memory like this has a finite service life, as at some point the memory cells can no longer be written to. When this start to happen and the card runs out of room, errors will start happening, like rebooting or other problems.

I have put together a guide on replacing the card here:

How to Replace the Internal MicroSD Card - RT6

It is important that right now, you take a backup of the user configuration files before they become corrupted. This can be found in Part A of the guide. Part B is used after the procedure to restore your user data and configuration if necessary. So I suggest you take a backup now and store it safely on your PC somewhere.

Thank you for your guidance.

I'm planning to do it today. But I have one more question.

I've checked what firmware version I have. It's RNEG2.86.B.1 I don't thing it needs to updated.

So in that case I need to use old CD? Before changing SD card, I need to take out firmware CD, take out Micro SD, place new SD card in it and place same firmware CD to install it? Is that correct?

Thanks

Hi, yes that is the latest and last firmware for the system, but it's recommended to use a USB for thefirmware in case there's a problem with reading the CD during installation. Up to you though, but I would make a copy of all the files onto a new FAT32 USB, just in case.

Of course, if you are able to, get a copy of your user files first using the guide.

Yes, I copied files to a new FAT32 USB, as instructions said.

Do you know some official pages where I can buy latest firmware, so I could upload it to new USB?

Thanks

There are no official USBs. Just copy the files directly from the CD. Make sure you are not hiding any system files to ensure you copy the lot over. That's all you have to do.

At least you will have both media sources then.
