Boxer oil pump - OEM supplier

Unread post by DaveS »

HI all,

Im going to be refreshing the chains/oil pump in my 2.2 2015 Boxer. Stealership price is coming out north of £320 for the pump alone (thanks once again Marc!), Autodoc have Pierburg unit for £65.

Im not sure if they are the OEM supplier for the oil pumps for these engines, but i know they are an OEM manufacturer for many other components, leading me to believe they are generally of good quality?

Do you think the Pierburg oil pump will be a safe bet, or am I best just swallowing the price and getting the lot from my local dealer? I dont mind paying a bit more for the chains/guides, but i cant make peace with getting gouged over £250 on the pump :rofl2:

What do you think?

Unfortunately I can't advise on who makes these as they don't supply that info - but as long as you ensure the after-market part has a corresponding cross-reference to the OEM part number, I can't see an issue. Pierburg are OEM manufacturers for a lot of the electro valves used by many constructors, including PSA vehicles.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Just as an FYI if the topic ever comes up again, i went with the Pierburg pump in the end. Looks to be the OEM supplier, albeit with the markings ground off.
