2020 Citroën C3 Feel - Auto stop/start.

Unread post by ATOJAR »

So I have Auto stop/start enabled on my vehicle however when I stop at a traffic light for example and apply the handbrake then take my foot off the pedals I noticed the little green Auto stop/start icon flash a few times then go off but the engine does not switch off. Does anybody know why this could be happening? Why does the Auto stop/start light flash but then the Auto stop/start does not initiate?

Cheers.

It will be something to do with battery power. Mine only used to work during hot weather, or after a long journey.

The Stop/Start on our 308 rarely works since the battery is often not fully charged. It is quite odd these systems are needed but in practice probably very few of them will be working.

The flashing of the stop / Start / ECO light means that the conditions are not correct for the engine to be stopped. It can be for many reasons (too many to go into), but more commonly:
  • The battery charge state is below the required needed.
  • The electrical equipment being used in the passenger compartment requires the engine to be running (phones being charged for example)
  • The climate control temperature requested by passengers, necessitates the engine to be running. So if you select a lower temperature than the fan can maintain without engaging the A/C, the engine won't stop.
  • The previous Stop / Start Cycle count exceeds the number allowed in the distance travelled on the current journey.
  • Seat Belt is unfastened
  • Exterior temperature
These are just some examples.

Ahh, no wonder I have only noticed the stop/start feature actually operate maybe twice in the 3 months I have owned the car.
