C3 Cooling Fan "Engine Fault"
Hi folks! - Not a question but rather a possible solution for Citroen C3 owners with an engine fault with no real symptoms! BTW - I'm a telecoms engineer, not a mechanic
Background - We've had an intermittent Seatbelt pre-tensioners and Airbags fault flash up once a month (If anyone has any ideas???), on our C3 1.6 HDI Aircross - 2018, however another warning appear yesterday "Engine Fault" and the spanner icon. Borrowing a friends OBD reader, the fault was "P0693 | Electric cooling fan unit: Short Circuit to Earth on the fan assembly control 2". Cutting to the solution - its the controller for the fan which has two speeds, the slower speed wasn't working and being winter / short journey's, our car didn't overheat. Full speed did work and can be activated by either the OBD or turning on the A/C. The faulty control unit has two plug connectors, located under the air-intake box on my C3 HDI Aircross. One hex screw holds it in place. The small component (thyristor?) leg had corroded. A dab or solder was a temporary fix until an Amazon delivery tomorrow (£20). Fault gone, fan works
. I hope this helps someone..... now on to find the intermittent Airbag fault, unless you can help?
