This thread is for those stupid things that genuinely don't really matter but that tend to get your back up or irritate yourself to the point of having to do something about it which nobody will care about!!

To get the ball rolling, and the reason that inspired the thread, here's my issue this morning:

I decided to read through the specification of my new phone this morning and was pleased to see it has a very long life battery. Pleased that is until I read the actual rating: 5000mAh !! Now when I was at school a milli anything was 1/1000th of that thing. Hence 1000 milliamps = 1 amp, so 5000 milliamps = 5amps. Therefor the rating of the battery is 5Ah. Question : Why do they do that? Possible answer - the person that wrote the specification doesn't understand or the marketing department insist on 5000mAh because 5000 of anything looks better to the uninformed buyer than 5 of anything. The fact is if the buyer does not understand Ah they are even more unlikely to understand mAh!! I hate marketing trash!!

Probably think they can pull the wool over the buyer's eyes and 5,000 is BIG.
I would be more impressed if they said 5Ah.

There is Room 101 of course on the FCF, and its USP is that deposits are made without challenge treating it as your own personal vault of such irritations.

Not gardened for a while and lying dusty in the archives since June 2023, and not in the consciousness of the FCF class of 2024.
