Xantia - Right Brake Cable

Hi,

I hope you can help me with a Xantia brake cable query.

I have a Citroen Xantia 1.8i 16v 2001. The right (offside) brake cable is broken. The Citroen part number is 4745.G6 1335mm. I have bought a new one on eBay from Quinton Hazell that is compatible with 4745.G6. On the packaging it is labelled BC2407 and it looks broadly similar to the old one. On the eBay listing the part number is 243336RMP.

I just can't get the cable to fit though. The internal wire would need to be about 1cm longer to fit into the brake caliper slot. From reading the forum I can see others have had the same problem when purchasing Xantia brake cables.

Back in 2012 Mandrake found GSF was the best place to get cables.

There are several variants and the one you have quoted is 1335 long.

The cheaper cable from Citroen (excluding ES9J4 engines) is this one and is available for £19.99

I left the car into a garage in the end and they where able to fit the above Quinton Hazell cable so it is the right one after all.
