Can't buy a new thermostat bleed valve

Post by rupertreynolds »

Amélie (our 2009 Dispatch 1.6 van) had a broken thermostat, so I changed it.

But the clip for the bleed valve in the old thermostat was cracked and the new thermostat didn't come with one. I had to bodge the old valve on with a zip tie.

None of the motor factors I visit can sell me one, or even find one in the parts diagrams.

Has anyone had luck finding one of these, please?

Do you have a pic of the part you are talking about?

There's not much to see, but here it is.

It is pushed into a stub that looks as though it would also take a heater hose, with an o-ring seal and a weak plastic clip.

p.s. I've already tried phoning the Citroën main dealer and we ended up in an e-mail conversation sending pictures back and forth.

No luck.

I also tried the local Ford dealer, but the details around the thermostat are different.

Looks as though it's down to finding the nearest breaker's yard and going through all their plastic thermostats until I find one with the same bleed valve. I'll get some funny looks for that :-)

I can see what you've done to tie it in but have you got a photo of the broken clip, I've got a boxful of Citroen clips here and I don't know what they're for.

Looks like part number 1323V3 to me. Plenty on ebay.
