Diesel spill under fuel filter 1.6HDi

Unread post by xsara92 »

I have made a silly mistake with my Xsara 1.6 HDi.

Long story short, most of the diesel in the fuel filter (less than 1/5 litre) leaked directly down onto the parts installed beneath it. I had failed to notice that the rubber drain pipe was missing, that would have directed the diesel down towards the floor, where I had a catch tray waiting  I actually believed the drain pipe was one of the other tubes connected to the filter

Most of the diesel seems to have collected in a metal strut / bracket several inches below, but there are too many actual parts in the way of it to see for sure.
The fuel supply and return hoses (one of them) caught a bit of the leak too.

Does anyone know if there are any parts under the filter which will be critical to clean later?

2008 Xsara Picasso btw
Thanks

Unless it has found its way into the clutch which is unlikely there is not much harm it can do, I would dribble some washing up liquid down into the area and follow it with a watering can full of hot water and not worry too much.
