I am a Picasso owner, HDi with some current fuel issue, however have a separate query about the oil pressure light...
This dash light stays on when the lights are in test mode, i.e the first turn of the ignition key, but then the light goes out on ignition. Does this have a general significance?
With my intermittent current engine problems, the oil light does always also come up when the engine has conked out (or is about to, I can't remember), along with, the first time the cutout fault struck, the "engine fault" message.

Have a look in the handbook for warning lights/messages. It might be if the oil light comes on with the engine running it stops the engine to save it from damage.

Re: 1.6HDi oil light simple question
IIRC every car I've ever owned has the oil pressure light on when ignition on but engine off. If you think about it, all of your systems are on but there won't be any oil pressure. Your EML should be on too. Some vehicles even have the STOP light on/flashing.
I would only be concerned if the oil light stays on when engine runs (or takes too long to go off once engine starts)
