Fuel Line connected = engine stop

Unread post by Delvey »

Afternoon

After cleaning my EGR valve due to a fault in lexia (cleaning did not solve) I put the fuel lines back together. The car wouldn't start.
I disconnected this line and the vehicle starts and runs fine.

First, what would cause this?
And second, can I run the vehicle long term without it?

Pretty sure that's the vacuum connection to the vac pump, def needs to be connected! I suspect coincidence and there was a bit of air which cleared.

I thought so. I did try pumping the fuel with the plastic pump on the top but this didn't work.

If the issues persists, what is the solution?

Assume it's a 16v - there should be a hand bulb in the centre of the engine in front of the air box. Just keep pumping till it stops bubbling in the tank. If it doesn't work then you will need to rig up an external pump somewhere to suck it through.

Thanks, I did try that but to no avail. Wonder if I have kinked the line.
