so please has any one got a 1.6 picasso they could plug torque and check the running temp over 62 mph as i need to do a 2 hour run on the 10th

Have you ruled out head gasket ? Sticking thermostat ? It shoud sit on 80 amd as i recall most fans kickin at 92 to 95. Check oil filler cap for signs of gasket failing.
Husky.
Thinking outside of the box is better than sitting in a dark one.

Is the fan running at both speeds?
I think the low speed fan should be running by 95°
Normal operating temperature for these engines is 90°

Are you sure the temperature sensor is giving a correct reading ? Look at values before running the engine, ought to be the outside temperature so possibly about 10°C. The thermostat will start to open likely about 90°C so the top hose should then start to get warm. Fans typically start at low speed at 96°C and then speed up a bit higher. The fan will also run if the air con is working.
