106 diesel valve clearances

Hello all,

I know this subject has been dealt with before. I seem to have no clearances on some of my valves, leading to very difficult cold starting - a known problem with these engines. Can anyone tell me a source of replacement shims, and also the special tool I understand is required in order to swap shims without having to remove the camshaft? I'm in Suffolk.

I used to have a Peugeot Indy, long retired and got rid of all my shims. Its a long time since I did this job, never used that special tool, always removed the camshaft with a cambelt change, its not a difficult job on this engine.
Plenty of shims and that tool available on EBay, trouble is you wont know the sizes needed until you have them all out and measured.
Can I suggest you contact my old mate Dean Hunter http://peugeotparts.co.uk/ he is a Peugeot boffin will have all the shims you need, may have that special tool? Try and persuade him to hire you a set of shims,that would be very convenient for you and cheaper.

Normally the tight valve clearances lead to hot starting problems on these engines.
