Picasso cambelt interval?
Hi all, I just acquired a C3 Picasso from 2010, 1.6 HDI 110 and it came with a good bit of history, none of which shows a cambelt replacement, its on 128,000, what is the interval on these engines ?

Re: Picasso cambelt interval?
A bit of searching seems to reveal 150,000 or ten years, belt kit purchase tomorrow.

149k miles under 'normal' conditions or 110k miles under 'arduous' conditions or 10 years - whichever is the soonest. But if it was me, I'd not leave it longer than 100k regardless.

Re: Picasso cambelt interval?
It does seem an unusually long interval for a timing belt to be changed, but that's what it says officially for this vehicle with this specific engine!

Re: Picasso cambelt interval?
Whilst the official belt change is up to 10 years and so many miles, you do not have to wait until then with a possible risk or just worry a belt might fail. Any warranties are also well gone by 10 years so there would be no help from Citroen if it failed earlier than hoped. We had the belt changed on our Cactus in December when on 7 years and 63k miles. The car is going to be kept for a lot longer and at some point would need a belt whilst we had it so better to be done sooner rather than later so we get all the benefit, plus with high inflation the cost will continue to go up a lot each year.
Note the 10 years and so many miles are based on Citroen parts so if pattern ones are used the intervals could be different so worth checking before buying.

Re: Picasso cambelt interval?
Well, the cambelt change was straightforward enough, I did the full waterpump replacement and tensioners too, the shape of the Picasso makes the job rather more awkward than on lower profile vehicles using the same mechanicals, the belt that came off was branded Dayco as was the serpentine belt that was also past its best, only the Eolys fluid and a lubrication service now and it will be approaching my standards.
