Re: Dispatch 2014 2.0 HDI 6 speed gearbox oil capasity
I assume you are referring to a manual 6 speed box.
The same quantity of oil removed should be replaced. But if you have drained it, then the following is true for the ML6C Gearbox:
Quantity of Oil after Draining:
DW Engines
Gearbox Casing with fins, 1.9L
Gearbox Casing without fins, 2.6L
So you have to determine the type of gearbox casing first or you may over or underfill it.
The above assumes the gearbox has not been overhauled i.e. dismantled, otherwise the oil quantities are:
2.2L with fins
2.9L without fins

yes its 6 speed manual. Right so there is with fins and without fins for 2.0 HDI 6 speed. Wonder whats the difference between the two gearboxes both being 6speed?

Re: Dispatch 2014 2.0 HDI 6 speed gearbox oil capasity
It's hard to be specific as there are different versions of these, but earlier boxes from 2006 had the following
It really depends on the gearbox implementation, build date and vehicle application.
- Ribbed gearbox casing for improvement of the lubrication and lowering of the oil temperature
- Discontinuation of the output shaft greasing filler tube
- Reduction of the oil capacity
- Engraving of the oil capacity below the sequence number on the differential housing (From 21/03/2006)
It really depends on the gearbox implementation, build date and vehicle application.

Re: Dispatch 2014 2.0 HDI 6 speed gearbox oil capasity
I’ve got to refill my ML6C gearbox, too. So, even if other changes aren’t present such as direct-acting concentric hydraulic release bearing instead of hydraulically operated fork, the ribs on the box are definitive for oil capacity?

This is the end of my transmission, are those the mentioned ribs?
I lost at least 300ml+ when I accidentally pulled a driveshaft out and then drained 2.1 litres out, so I’m assuming when the clutch was changed a few years back, this capacity confusion caused the mechanic to overfill the box?

Pop your VIN up so I can check the exact gearbox type.

Re: Dispatch 2014 2.0 HDI 6 speed gearbox oil capasity
Ok, so confirmed you have the 'reinforced' ML6C (the ML6C/R), on your 407 so:
| ML6C/R | Oil capacity |
| Drain and refill | 1,9 litre |
| After overhaul | 2,2 litres |

Re: Dispatch 2014 2.0 HDI 6 speed gearbox oil capasity
Thanks, that puts my mind at rest. Must’ve been overfilled before. I didn’t want to risk putting 1.9l in and destroying the box if it actually needed 2.6l.GiveMeABreak wrote: 04 Feb 2024, 11:48 Ok, so confirmed you have the 'reinforced' ML6C (the ML6C/R), on your 407 so:

Ironically, since I drained a total of 2.1 litres, I didn’t actually need to do anything after accidentally popping out the driveshaft. Oh well, it’ll benefit from the new oil I expect.
Thanks again

Hi, can you confirm mine is reinforced as well and needs 1.9l after drain vin: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] thank you
