Pre/Post Facelift Xsara Differences

Unread post by vts_188 »

Hey everyone! I'm a proud owner of a Ph2 Xsara VTS. I was just wondering, bar the obvious exterior and interior differences as well as the move to Multiplex as well as changing the engine options, what other differences were there between the Pre and Post-Facelift coupe models? I heard the chassis was strengthened but could somebody enlighten me as to how exactly?

Cheers!

The ph2 Xsara VTS is my favourite car i ever owned.

The change to multiplexing was actually on the ph1 with a comfort VAN only system. The ph2 came out originally with the same multiplexed system but changed to VAN/CAN late 2001.

STRUCTURE
Changes:
· reinforced passenger compartment
· change in the front end in order to
accommodate the new engines
· reinforced front end
· integration of a metal beam behind the front
bumper
· integration of a removable chassis member
extension
· mounting for fitting screen airbags

Main changes to the body structure.
(1) engine support moved forwards, due to the
more upright position of engines
(2) new bulkhead panel with VIN
(3) integration of a strengthening tube in the
windscreen pillar
(4) mounting of the screen airbag and grab
handle
(5) mounting of the pyrotechnic component of
the screen airbag on the rear cross member
(6) change to the rear floor and rear wing inner
panel due to fitting of 15 inch wheels
(7) integration of a strengthener in the centre
post
(8) integration of an additional cross member
under the front seats
(9) increase in the thickness of the inner
longeron
(10) mounting of the upper door hinge using 3
bolts (instead of 2)
(11) lowering of the engine sub-frame
mounting (sub-frame lowered by 5 mm)
(12) new front wing mounting support
(13) integration of a half front panel
(14) extension of the chassis member
(removable)
(15) front door strengthener
Insertion of a strengthener on the front door
inner panel.
Repair: the new doors can be fitted on an old
vehicle.
