citroen c5 x7 156 thp P1153+P3014+P0565

Unread post by verdi »

Hi all
Today after a shopping, turn on the car and could see engine light on. arrived home shut down the car, so now the radiator fan became working for about a minute. came into the car and see that the gauge of the water was at normal (middle) position.
I went out from the car and after an hour started a new ride, now I found out that there is no accelertion while pushing on the pedal, stoped on the side, turn off and then on so the car move normally till home. (fan started again for 1-2 minutes).
I connected the Diagbox and could see
P1153 Fault programing of the throttle stops.
P3014 Fault programing of the throttle stops.
P0565 cruise control signal fault.
How does the codes above realitive to the fan operation?
Any advises please?
Thank you
Vredi

I'll need your VIN to relate these codes to your Engine Management System.

Ok, so I need you to identify which version of the Bosch MED engine ECU you have. It will be either a (A) 17.4 or (B) 17.4.2 as shown on the engine ECU label. This makes a difference to the fault codes

So looking at these fault descriptors should give you some troubleshooting guidance, but the common factor would seem to be the Motorised throttle assembly or the accelerator pedal.

Here is how the throttle assembly operates, depending on the situation:
x7 throttle ass.png
"A" Position of the butterfly at rest (ignition off) or "limp home" position in the event of a failure.
"B" Position of the gas butterfly with the ignition on or at idle.
"C" Position of the butterfly at full load.
"b" Force of the butterfly motor.
"c" Force of the spring.

With the ignition off, the "limp home" spring holds the butterfly open (Position "A" ).

When the ignition is switched on, the engine management ECU controls the butterfly to the idle position, countering the force of the "limp home" spring (Position "B" ).

When the engine is idling the throttle butterfly moves to supply the airflow required by the engine (Replaces the idle regulation stepper motor ).

From 1500 rpm the engine management ECU controls the throttle in the opposite direction to assist the "limp home" spring (Position "C" ).

The position of the throttle is monitored by the engine management ECU (potentiometer incorporated in the butterfly unit).

The engine management ECU cuts off the supply to the butterfly housing if certain faults are present.

Note: Do not attempt to adjust or dismantle a butterfly unit (safety).
Fault Code: P1153
Description of Fault: Throttle stops programming fault: Programming failure. Motorised throttle unit error during the programming of the lower stops.
Conditions of activation of the diagnostics
The following conditions have to be met:
- Engine ECU in main triggering phase detected at end of chain
- After a writing error of the stops in the engine management ECU
- After a reprogramming of throttle stops due to values being outside the admissible range
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Programming of the motorised throttle unit performed during the next cycle
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • The motorised throttle unit operates using the last valid programming values.
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms: -
Suspect Areas:
  • Motorised throttle unit

Fault Code: P3014
Description of Fault: Throttle stops programming fault: Initialisation conditions not met.
Description of the diagnostics
Possibility 1: Programming fault on the motorised throttle unit because of unsatisfactory programming conditions (Vehicle speed ; Engine speed ; Foot throttle pedal ; Engine temperature ; Inlet air temperature ; Battery voltage ).

Possibility 2: Stopping of the programming due to a drop in the battery voltage during programming (Battery voltage more than 10 V).

Conditions of activation of the diagnostics
The following conditions have to be met:
- Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
- Programming not carried out
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • The fault disappears after switching off the ignition provided the initialisation is done successfully the next time the ignition is switched on.
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Possibility 1: Programming interrupted before programming of the lower stops; The following conditions have to be met:
    - Natural opening position of the motorised throttle housing.
    - For a gearbox with engine speed regulation (automatic gearbox or piloted manual gearbox), limitation of the torque sent to the gearbox.
    - Air conditioning cut-off.
    - Limitation of engine speed between 1520 rpm and an engine speed dependent on the pedal angle.
    - Cut in the injection when the engine speed goes above the maximum engine speed.
-Increase in the idle reference to 900 rpm at dead centre and clutched.
    -Deactivating the cruise control.
  • Possibility 2: The programming follows a simple recognition of replacement of the motorised throttle housing, either with default values or acquired values.
  • Possibility 3: The programming follows an extended recognition of replacement of the motorised throttle housing, either with default values or acquired values.
Symptoms:
  • Unstable idling
  • Idle speed too high
  • Lack of power
  • Engine hesitation
  • Cutting out under load
Suspect Areas: -

Fault Code: P0565
Description of Fault: Cruise control signal fault: Invalid value. Conditions for activation of the vehicle cruise control not satisfactory.
Conditions of activation of the diagnostics
The following conditions have to be met:
- Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
- Cruise Control active
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Vehicle cruise control is authorised following a cut-off then reactivation.
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Vehicle cruise control inactive.
Symptoms:
  • Activation of the vehicle cruise control impossible.
Suspect Areas:
  • Built-in systems interface
  • CAN network
  • ABS or ESP ECU
  • Motorised throttle unit
  • Accelerator pedal
  • Clutch sensor
  • Automatic gearbox ECU
  • Controlled manual gearbox ECU
