Citroën C5 Aircross Limp mode after acceleration

Unread post by Nego2403 »

Hello
I had trouble starting my car today, the starter was cranking for about 4 seconds before the engine managed to start. I drove around 200 meters down the road and during acceleration after a turn the car came with an engine fault and it entered limp mode. It was really hard to get the car up to speed. I read the following faults with a tester (P2448 and P20EE):

Does anybody know why these faults occur? I deleted the faults and the car ran normally. Now I'm waiting to see if the faults will return.

The first fault is pointing to your MAF sensor, for which the data is well out from the reference value, so that would be my first port of call, as whilst this not functioning properly, it is going to cause problems whilst the engine ECU goes into backup mode to try and compensate. Whilst this is happening it can also have a knock-on effect on the engine performance and therefore the emissions, which could result in the DeNox error, which is reporting that the system is not effectively operating.

That makes good sense. I planned on checking the turbo high pressure hoses for leaks. In case of a leak I would guess that the sensor reading would be higher than the reference in that case?
Is it possible to make a actuator test for the MAF sensor with diagbox?

Not really, because the MAF sensor is simply a very sensitive fine wire connected to the electronics, that measure the air flow, so there are no actuators as such. Over years the wire can become soiled and contaminated with matter from the air entering the MAF, so you may want to try and clean it VERY gently first with some specialist MAF cleaner, but you must be very careful not to damage the wire. But it that makes no difference and you have checked the obvious wiring connector to the MAF, then it may require a new MAF altogether.

I will await and see if the problem persists. If so I'm cleaning the sensor if that's not working I'm getting a new one! Thank you for your assistance.
