C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Come to think of it its making a squishing sound when you pull the pedal back up by hand , i was out today went to change down a gear into a junction & the pedal just hit the floor and didn't come back up , so would this be part 10 or 11 ?

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Be aware that there can be an issue with leaking electrolyte from the battery.
Symptoms
Gear changes impossible - The clutch pedal remains on the floor
Condition in which the fault appears: On Gear Change.
1. ORIGIN
Replacement:
2.3. Check
Check the condition of the hydraulic clutch pipe in the area underneath the ancillaries battery tray:
Replace the hydraulic clutch pipe.
Additional parts which must always be replaced: None.
In addition, carrying out this repair requires the following operations to be carried out:

Check the condition of the hydraulic clutch pipe in the area underneath the ancillaries battery tray:
- If the hydraulic clutch pipe is holed: Carry out repair

In addition, carrying out this repair requires the following operations to be carried out:
- Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations
- Use the products recommended by the manufacturer
- Perform the operations that are necessary prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
I was finding it hard to engaged 1st gear was clunky sort of stiff , the car has had a new clutch about a year ago, i did a quick diagnosis earlier by having the wife work the pedal by hand while i watched the part on the gear box that hardly pulled the lever back and fourth at all , so I'm thinking the part on the pedal has worn rather than the part on the gearbox end

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Ive no leaks as the fluid bowl is sitting on the correct level so no holes in pipes , but i will check as i never knew of this , come to think of it the battery is clean so this part might not apply to me .

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
I haven't prepared one as it's quite involved being there are a possible 3 types of bleed system that could be fitted. I don't have time to write it up now, maybe if I get time tomorrow, but a little busy myself at present.
Note, I've added a few bits to the post above, namely the symptoms and conditions that I omitted before.

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Cheers marc, when i get the time i can have a look then maybe work out the process myself, then maybe just bleed it on the slave cylinder end as that looks the last point to bleed the system. Kind of a common sense approach i guess. Ill write up my way of doing it then pop it on here.

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Cool, ive had a quick look this morning it looks as if it goes through the bulkhead, so im guessing there must be some sort of clip that locks it into place . 2 pipes need to come off to which fluid will leak out of so might need to clamp one of them to stop to much, it looks like the pedal end sort of pops onto a nipple ? , the part itself has been dispatched so i might be lucky & have it with me tomorrow. Thanks in advance marc for your help, hope citrojim picks this up .

A supplementary question if I may? The procedure speaks of an ancillaries battery. Is that separate from the main battery and if so where is it located? I see only one battery under the bonnet and that's well tucked away!
Thanks

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
Is it me or are things getting bells & whistles on here ? Or am i getting old , in my day it used to be remove battery, set aside, check battery tray for corrosion then get on with the job. But then again you could actually work around the engine with out removing half a ton of plastic.
The task im about to do looks simple , drain the system, but no mention of if this effects the braking system, take out old part , put new part back in , do up slave cylinder pipes after fluid drain, refill fluid bowl after master is fitted, then bleed the system. I may try a electric vacuum pump method to draw the fluid through I've read on line someone has and always bleeds there cars this way it saves time plus you don't need 2 people.

Re: C3 Picasso Clutch Issues
It's just the normal battery, suspect they use ancillary to separate from hybrid or traction batteries.
Those instructions look they are for LHD - for RHD probably no need to remove the battery, but access may otherwise be 'restricted'!! Not sure how far the engine is buried under the scuttle, but I would be preparing to remove the wipers / scuttle and possibly air box to get at it.
Usually the clutch and brake sections of the fluid reservoir are separated so that loss of the clutch fluid doesn't equal loss of brakes, so there should be no need to bleed the brakes. Check before you move off of course...
Love the way it goes into excruciating detail about draining the circuit, but then goes full Haynes BOL at the end with "Bleed the clutch circuit" but no indication of how to actually do it
