1) Check the battery in the fob
2) Carry out a BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

What is the history of the car / fault? Have you recently acquired it? Has it been working in the past? Has anyone been fiddling with fuses?

I had the remote on our C5 not working at times and a new battery in the remote fixed it. The battery was about 14 years old and still showed normal voltage but must have been due for replacement. In the handbook there will be a procedure to follow when replacing the remote battery.

Our C5 spare remote can stop working if not used every month or so but can be reinitialised by following the remote battery replacement procedure or trying its buttons a lot of times alternatively with the other remote to lock and unlock the doors.

The reinitialising of the fobs is already included in the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure
