Unread post by darbuck »

Flywheel and clutch
Hub and bearing driver side front wheel bolt was snapped and siliconed in to position.
Rear caliper driver side
Oil cooler
Seized injectors
Burned valves
Fuel pressure regulator
Steering rack
Wiper motors
Reverse lights melted
Reverse switch
Window regulators front X2
Tyres (maintenance items)
Climate control module
Tie rod ends
Drop links
Driver side upper ball joint destroyed threads on removal
ABS sensor drivers side front.
Rear brake pads driver side disintegrated
Timing belt and water pump
Crankshaft oil seals both timing and gearbox ends (leaking again).
Worst car I have ever had the misfortune to own.
There are other bits I just can't remember off hand.
Cost so far just under €4k

Yeah it's all just parts, as you know I do all the work myself so I think if I had this in a garage I would be down about €10k. Very poor materials in these cars.

Much more solid than earlier C5s, but let down by crappy steering rack design / materials and poor suspension components & pipes.

Engine-wise this was flawless on mine, and mechanical wear and tear parts aside, really didn't have too many problems aside from the aforementioned racks (x3) suspension pipes and struts, oh and crank case oil seal and window regulators....

I know I think I just got unlucky with mine I think the guy who had before did very little to it in 4 years of ownership. I didn't get any service history with it so my fault as well. There are a lot of great reviews for them online so they obviously aren't normally this terrible.
