2012 C4 Picasso 2.0 HDi Manual - Gear oil used?

Hello, newby here although not new to cars.

I want to change the gearbox oil of our 10 year old C4 Picasso and I'm struggling to find the exact refill amount and type (synthetic/semi synthetic) for this gearbox.

Here's the VIN number if someone can access the Citroen database please, and also the basic details:

Car is RHD, built for the UK market. It is now registered in France with a French Number plate. Previous UK - EF62FJY Now FR - GD922VF

VIN : VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Reg : Feb. 2013

2.0 HDi 110kW / 150 bhp

6 Speed manual gearbox


Reason for oil change is I believe in changing oils after being told by an older very experienced mechanic that oil changes were at the top of the maintainance list. It has served me well over the years and as the gear change isn't as light as it used to be and the oil is 10 years old I want to do this. If I have missed any detail please ask.

You are supposed to replace the quantity your remove, but if you are wanting to change it, you must drain it and fill depending on the type of gearbox:

For ML6C gearbox:

Engines:	DW
Gearbox casing with fins	1.9 l
Gearbox casing without fins	2.6 l

So you'll have to manually inspect this to determine which type you have.

Just taken a quick look and it's not easy to find any/many places to buy this oil. Is it very new or just supplied through PSA dealers only?

You can find an equivalent, but this is the product used in your gearbox by the dealers and their recommended oil for this build date.
