AX Speedo cable noise

Unread post by kevin »

Over the past few weeks there has been a clicking noise that increases with the speed of the car on our AX. The Speedo drive cable was thought to be at fault, after two replacements by a local garage we are thinking of doing the job properly ourselves.
How easy is it to remove the dasboard assembly and instrument binnacle to connect the cable to the head.
Many thanks
Kevin

If the AX has the same inherant problems as the BX, could I suggest that you spray silicone release spray around the back of the speedo where the cable enters, use a screwdriver or similar to work it until it frees up properly and then secure the speedo cable so that it doesn't turn at right angles immediately after it leaves the speedo and hopefully live happily ever after.

Just lube up that bad boy! the speedo cable doesnt go at a right angle on the ax anywhere, if its been changed perhaps the problem is withthe dials? they are a peice of pee to change over.
