Driveshaft bearing

Post by froggy »

Hi, my S2 Xantia. I have a rumbling noise coming from the bearing of the driveshaft, drivers side. Is this something that I can source from Motor Factors., thanks in advance Terry.

It's probably a std bearing that you can get from a bearing supplier if you can get the number off it, or measure it. Changing it is not all that easy though...

Is it a 90 or 110 HDi?

You'll need a slightly special bearing puller for this job Terry... One with a very long reach! Unless you decide to remove the old one in pieces using (with great care) an angel grinder...

The new bearing can be tapped into place using a suitable length of pipe.

Cit show it as 30x55-13 - I would take that as 30mm id, 55mm OD, 13mm wide. I imagine it's a metal shielded bearing. They want £48.38 for it - imagine it will much cheaper from Simply Bearings or equivalent. There is also a bush and deflector on the gearbox side that will need to come off - these may or may not be recoverable... See below diagram, and part numbers and prices

Meant to say, Wheel bearings are much more common failure, double check it's not one of those grumbling!
