Citroen C4 GP B78 Injector issue.... P02171

I came on this forum a few months ago and had such a great service. So I'm back for some more Citroen"fun"

My wifes Citroen 2014 C4 GP has developed a fault with Injector #4 - It threw an error P02171 - Short circuit between two wires as shown in Diagbox.

I replaced the injector back in August with a refurbished unit and then programmed this new injector with the new 6 digit code to the car's ECU and cleared the old fault codes. Everything worked fine, until a week or so ago when it broke down and had to be towed home. Plugging it back into Diagbox, the error was the same, P02171 - Short circuit between two wires.... On the same injector #4.

I've returned the faulty injector back as it's only done <500 miles in the past 3 month since the original injector failed, to be told that, upon investigation, the injector's solenoid has a resistance of -1 and the same fault as the original injector that it replaced. I was also told it's not covered by their warranty and that something in my car is breaking the solenoid in the injector and it's not their fault.

As a good will gesture, they're replacing the faulty solenoid and sending the injector back to me (at a reduced cost because it falls outside of warranty) but have been advised that I need to "Reset the ECU'' with a specialist. The supplier doesn't know what this ECU reset process entails but has advised me not to drive the car until this is done.

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience or has any advice? What would cause an injeector's solenoid to fail?

For anyone following, this is what I decided to do:

• Removed the injector and returned to the supplier as only 3 months old and only done ~1050 miles.
• Spoke to the supplier who measured the resistance on this and the original injector which I returned at the same time, both were -1
• Supplier said that both solenoids were severely damaged and said there was no signs of poor running from looking inside the injector. They also said it was fitted correctly.
• It was changed for a replacement injector and I was told to take it to a specialist and have the “ECU Reset”
• I decided to fit the replacement injector fitted to #3
• Injector #3 was moved to injector #4 (so I could see if the issue followed the injector or the lead)
• Coded ALL the injectors using Diagbox from the code on top of the injectors
• Clear the fault codes on the ECU
• Car is running fine now but do not want the injector to fail again

Spoke to a local garage who advised that I did evrything right and that I should contact a local specilist or take it to Citroen. The local garage has never heard of this before and thought it might need a software update?

Observation:
• Whilst looking at the other open faults, I saw this:

• I cleared that code and nothing has returned even after a 45 minute drive.
• Not sure if this occurred as a result of me fiddling at the road side or if it was the cause of the original injector failure.
• Have visually checked the fuse box but all looks fine. Also checked the injector leads, which look normal.
