Re: Modfied in tank pump
I don't think a noisy pump is an MoT failure Alasdair
Is that on your Activa?
I might still have a new in-tank pump for the Saxo... Unless I let it go with all the Xantia stuff... I know I had a Xantia in-tank pump but that would have gone when I sent all the spares to a new home.

Re: Modfied in tank pump
Yeh, I know noise is not a fail, just wondering if the pump is on the way out (noise on prime, more than I remember)
I do not know if a Saxo pump would offer the flow
After reading (my head has gone in a spin now !
) that thread section on pumps.....it seems that 2nd hand pumps are pointless
.....plus, what I thought would be a simple, "find a suitable pump and fit it" (maybe with a little mounting modification) seems to be a much bigger conundrum that I was imagining

Re: Modfied in tank pump
No, the Saxo pump is a lot smaller and will not fit a Xantia Alasdair...
You should hear a low 'brrr' as it primes initially but it should be almost completely silent when working normally so if you can consciously hear it with the engine running and driving along then it's noisier than it should be.
Whether or not it's about to fail is hard to say. Generally those pumps are very reliable in my experience. I've not had one fail in all the years I ran petrol Xantias...
Best to play safe as a failed pump will strand you...

Re: Modfied in tank pump
Finding a new one is not proving easy Jim, both confusing and expensive (vrs, some nice performance "stand alone" in-tank pumps..........)

Re: Modfied in tank pump
mr-auto.com (France) lists a number of compatible pumps, ranging from the ridiculously cheap €29.90 for Magneti Marelli (bare pump) to ridiculously expensive.

Re: Modfied in tank pump
I do not find Mr Auto easy....
https://www.mister-auto.co.uk/gv/fuel-p ... ntia/7754/
and I am concerned they all seem to be 3bar pumps and I have a 3.4bar pressure regulator fitted...... am I wrong in thinking the pump should be equal to or exceed the regulator divert pressure ?

Re: Modfied in tank pump
Alasdair,
I have a peugeot 306 Cab 2 ltr which left me stranded last year with a seized in tank fuel pump, the car is petrol. My understanding is that it uses the same fuel pump as yours. I bought a pump from ebay listed as (New In Tank Fuel Pump For PEUGEOT 206, 306, 406, 607, Partner; Magneti Marelli) for £9.90, replaced the seized one and now have a fully functional cabriolet. Replacing the joining pipes is a problem but was solved by Aliexpress. They all seem to be 3 Bar.
regards
Javed
