Pug 306 S16.. help!

Post by Fraz »

hi hope someone here can help
I have been having terrible idle problems and almost stalling problems which have been linked to a possible duff steper motor. I have just been informed that my car doesn;t runa stepper motor but another tyope of system so do3es anyone have a clue why its running like it is?
It has a really rough idle.. hesitates really badly and sometimes will almost die. to the point of just sustaining an idle and stay like that wiht no amount of accelerator prodding doin any god.. car also massively overfuels at that point. car s eating alot of fuel in general too at da mo
anyone got an idea?

if it wasnt for the fact you say it stays on idle sometimes I would suggest it was a coil pack like in my zx (same engine) but with me I just had about 25% power but it would still rev, just with misfires and no grunt. It did burn fuel however and chuck it all through to the cat as one coil wasnt using any but I drove it for miles with no stuck on idle problems

Not sure, i tried removing a coil pack at a time but without much luck. Took it to my local garage in the end and they charged me half an hours labour ~£15 to put a new one on after diagnosing it. Im sure someone on here can suggest a safe way to test though yourself incase it is something different

they were also used in a number of xantias and possibly 406's. may be worth going to a citroen dealer as xantia's with that engine are far more common than 306 s16's or zx 16v's
