xsara picasso 2002 - screen demister / car heater

hello all.

might be a daft question but the manual that came with my xsara picasso 2002 was for an earlier model, without air con.

my model has air con.

is it correct that to have heat blowing on the screen, etc, you need to switch on air con?

i can find no reference to any other methods, which means i have to have air con on, putting a laod on the engine, therefore lowering mpg, just to have heat in the car?

seems daft to me, all the cars i have owned used the coolant water through a small radiator that air is blown through.

No, the confusion arises because some models automatically turn on the aircon when the heater controls are set to screen demist.

If the aircon is not on, heat will still be directed to the screen.

brilliant! i can now have heat in the car! it seems i have to be in 'eco' mode to get just warm air without air con compressor on, which is great.
