C5 x7 height correction

Hi all, bit of an issue, I think it’s a minor issue, hopefully someone can shed a little light on this for me.

Recently did some work on my front suspension, new wishbone bushes and refitted my steering pipes, the car was off its wheels for over a week while I waited for parts. When I got the car back to its wheels it wouldn’t lift to normal height, I got it lifted to full height after a while but after that it would only go to full high or full low. I realised that I’d had the height sensor off and back on again so thought it needed adjusting. But alas, it would only adjust or full high or full low, didn’t want to settle at normal. I thought maybe I’d damaged the sensor so replaced it, but still it only really wants to go full high or full low. Then depressurised it, no change.
The rear suspension is unaffected and works fine.
Reading a few other threads in the forum it’s suggested that this can be fixed (calibrated) with diagbox, I do have a lexia but only recently so have only used it a couple of times.
If anyone could give me any advice on this I’d be very grateful.

I think you may have made the cardinal mistake of not marking the sensor support / bracket position before removing it. These are precision set at the factory and Diagbox can only make very minor adjustments from the reference heights.

The suspension heights for 4 cylinder engines is calculated using a procedure, from which the resulting calculations are entered into Diagbox to fine tune the height, but this assumes the height correctors are fitted and positioned correctly to start with.

However if you can't get the vehicle to sit at normal height, you are not going to be able to complete this. If you are stuck, then it may need the dealer to get it set correctly.

It goes without saying never get under the vehicle unless supported independently as if the suspension heights are incorrect the car can drop without warning and crush.

No I didn’t mark the position at all. I really didn’t think it’d be that exact, the thing is, I have corrected it before, when I first got the car the front was slightly dropped so I got under it and adjusted it a little which worked fine, and another time I had to refit the rear anti roll bar, adjusted the rear corrector and seemed really straight forward.
Didn’t think this time it would be any different.

Also! did you check the plastic link that connects the height sensor to the anti roll bar lever was fitted the right way up? I only add this in because it's really easy to fit it the wrong way. The sensor itself has a lever on it with a ball joint and the lever must be upwards i.e above the sensor to then connect the plastic link. It can easily be wrongly attached with the sensor's lever 180 degrees wrong with the lever downwards and this stops it working or adjusting at all. Worth checking that before plugging in and changing the settings!
