dw8-timing belt
i have the 1.9d dw8 engine in my berlingo and was wondering if anyone has done the timing belt as i am going to do mine soon.does anyone know if there are any awkward bits and are any special tools needed thanks

There's some who would say that you need a tensioning tool for the cambelt. But you can get it approximately right with a 1/4 turn on the belt. We have a DW8 in a Pug 306 and although it's five years old, it's only done 17000 miles, so it won't get a new belt just yet. Apart from the lack of a spring loaded tensioner, the drill is the same as on the earlier XUD's. Undo the crankshaft bolt when it's hot.
you dont need to undo the crankshaft centre bolt on the DW8,the pulley is held on by 4 13mm bolts which should come out no problem.remember when tensioning to loosen off the 3 13mm bolts on both the injection pump & camshaft then re-tighten afterwards,you'll need some kind of square key to tension the belt,cant remember off hand what size it is but its the same as the TU petrol engines.
