XANTIA 1.9TD
DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE CORRECT ALIGNMENT FOR THIS BUSH AS THERE IS NO OBVIOUS POSITION, AND AS ITS A TIGHT FIT YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE. I CAN'T DETERMIN THE POSITION FROM THE EXISTING BUSH AS ITS TOTALLY KNACKERED.

No it doesn't. The bush has a metal outer and a metal inner, the metal inner is an interference fit onto the wishbone, if you put it on oriented wrong its not easy to get off, near impossible without damaging it.joelataxi wrote:does the rear bush come seperate from the metal case it's in ?
i didn't think you could purchase just the rubber bush
i know it's an old post, but was just browsing

Hi FEDAK,
The bushes can be bought separtely and are relatively easy to fit.
As described by Al Williams the metal should be horizontal , but be careful when taking off wishbone as the stablising links are tempermental.
The anti roll bar also requires to be loosened. If its only 1 bush it will be ackward.
When I did the job I did one bush at a time instead of loosening both lower balljoints on stablising links first followed by both o/s and n/s of anti roll bar in order to remove wishbone easily.
The cost of the bushes was £10 approx + vat from a local factors.

According to Citroen, the correct alignment is so that the bush is under neutral strain when the bottom tip of the end of the arm is 8mm below the level of the suspension chassis near where the bush bolts on...
This is set by rotating the arm and the bush together before final tightening of the bush mounting bolts. They don't say anything specific about the orientation of the bush to the arm, so I would put that back the same way the old one was.

Simon
