How often is it recommended to change the coolant hoses on a car? i have a 1997 pug 306 xtdt and while the hoses look ok, i was wondering if it is good practice to renew them every 5 years or so? what would a rough price for this be at a garage (not dealer)

They're not an item that need to be changed at a predetermined age; unlike a cambelt - at least, not on my four cars. My Xantia is over six years and not showing any signs of needing replacements. My daughter ran a 205 from 1987 till 2002, also without any hose changing. A periodic inspection is all that's required.
